We’ve got new stuff, and we’re ready to show it off. First Look is the museum’s first large-scale exhibition of contemporary work drawn exclusively from our collection. With pieces from Asia as well as the United States — including Bay Area favorites like Hung Liu, an exciting debut from Ahmed Mater, and large-scale paintings by Zhu Jinshi and Manuel Ocampo — there’s something for everybody. Come take a “first look” and see what speaks to you.

First Look: Collecting Contemporary at the Asian was organized by the Asian Art Museum. Presentation is made possible with the generous support of The Akiko Yamazaki and Jerry Yang Fund for Excellence in Exhibitions and Presentations, China Guardian Auctions, and an anonymous donor.
